**What is "Sakhalin Energy"**

LLC "Sakhalin Energy" is a company that extracts oil and gas near Sakhalin Island, directly in the sea.

· It works on the "Sakhalin-2" project.

· It extracts oil and gas in two places: Piltun-Astokhskoye (mostly oil here) and Lunskoye (gas and liquid condensate here).

· It uses big sea platforms — they are strong and can handle ice and storms.

· It prepares oil and gas at a plant in the village of Prigorodnoye.

· It sends its products to Asian countries: Japan, South Korea, and China.

**How oil is extracted in the sea**

On sea platforms, everything starts with drilling wells. From deep down, they bring up a mix — oil, gas, water, and sand.

Right on the platform, they start cleaning it immediately:

· They remove sand — it is not needed and can break equipment;

· They separate gas from liquid;

· They remove extra water.

The cleaned water is pumped back underground — this way the layer stays strong and does not "sink."

**How oil is brought to shore and prepared for sale**

Oil and condensate go through pipes: first under water, then on land — across almost the whole island, almost 800 km to the plant in Prigorodnoye.

Along the way, the pipes keep the right pressure so the flow does not stop.

On shore, the oil is mixed with condensate to get a special brand — Sakhalin Blend. It is checked again and brought to standards: they remove water remains and stabilize the composition.

When gas condensate is added to this oil, the "light" parts become even more, and resins and heavy parts become less. That is why the final mix is especially good for processing.
